Kevin Ward Jr. ESS Opener Ends in Disappointment After Early Race Incident; Next Race at Black Rock Speedway on Friday Night

It was a good night gone bad for Kevin Ward Jr. in the ESS season opener at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park on Saturday night.  Ward had a fast car, but was caught up in an early race incident that took him out of contention.

Ward was fast right from opening hot laps, posting the second fastest speed of the 35 sprint cars that filled the Can Am pit area.  He started his 10 lap qualifier from seventh place after drawing a high number entering the track, but he was able to advance to fifth, moving into a qualifying spot for the night’s 25 lap A-main.  The race wasn’t even a lap old before Ward Jr. found himself caught up in an incident that that all but took him out of the race.  Ward limped to an 18th place finish.

“That was not how we wanted to start the season with the Empire Super Sprints”, said Ward after the race.  “We had a good car, but just didn’t get a chance to show how good it could have been”.

The next event on the schedule for Kevin is the Patriot Sprint Tour event at Black Rock Speedway this coming Friday, May 4th.  The following weekend, the team will travel to Autodrome Granby on Friday, May 11th and Saturday May 12th for the Can Am Sprint Car Challenge Series.  The next Empire Super Sprint event is Saturday, May 19th at the legendary Fonda Speedway.

Kevin Ward Jr. would like to thank their sponsors for their support during the 2012 racing season.  They include Westward Painting, Tioga Construction, Sherwin Williams, Lyons Falls Tire Inc., Young’s Auto Parts/Carquest, Cash for Cans, and Finish Line Web Design.

Kevin Ward Jr. Battles to 9th Place Finish at Fulton Speedway on Saturday Night; Launches New Website From Finish Line Web Design

By Craig Revelle - Finish Line Web Design - After starting the 2012 racing season at Selinsgrove Speedway late last month with a 7th place finish, Kevin Ward Jr. was looking forward to getting back on track and racing closer to home this past weekend as the Patriot Sprint Tour opened their 2012 racing season at Fulton Speedway on Saturday afternoon.

A strong field of 41 Sprint Cars filled the pit area at Fulton Speedway for the opening night events labeled Methanol Meltdown. After just missing out on a transfer spot in his qualifying heat, Ward Jr. was relegated to the B-Main. He started on the front row, and won, giving him the 22nd starting spot in the feature event.

At the drop of the green flag, Kevin charged forward, battling the early season track conditions at the fast, high-banked oval. At the checkered flag, he crossed the finish line with a solid 9th place finish.

Next up for Kevin Ward Jr. will be another stop with the Patriot Sprints at Glen Ridge Motorsports Park on Friday, April 27th. The following night will be the Empire Super Sprints 2012 season opener at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park on Saturday, April 28th.

The team is also excited to launch the brand new website from Finish Line Web Design. The website will be updated regularly throughout the season, with photos, schedule, results and information about Kevin Ward Jr. and the rest of the team.
